The Resource Industry Shrugs

When the Premier of Alberta (Ed Stelmach) stepped in to unilaterally raise oil company taxes AFTER the industry was up to its elbows in massive infrastructure investment, I said that all of Canada would one day realize it had been ”Stelmached”. Ethics and widespread prosperity go hand in hand. Ordinary Canadians pay the price when the ethics go out the window.

Now that western Canada is hitting the “Stelmach” skids, I see where miners in South Africa are threatening to strike. I’m old, and I’ve seen this all before. Ghost towns?

Deep recession was already in the cards. We’re simply seeing how it comes about. “Repeat Performance”.
