French Toast

Germany had a plan to completely shut down its aging nuclear reactors over the coming decade. Yesterday legislators revealed that some German reactors will have to run for twelve years beyond their earlier planned shut down dates.

I predicted this outcome in a book I wrote in 1976. Fifty years ago the world got nuclear power. Today the tables have turned, and nuclear power has us. All of us.

Germany will indeed shut its reactors down, but only after a catastrophic nuclear accident takes out one or another of the creaky overdue radiating units in its own backyard. And Germany’s nuclear backyard extends well beyond its own borders!

Unfortunately, Germans are all downwind from France, which runs 80% of its electric power grid using nuclear power. Germany is FRENCH TOAST!
