You Don't/Cannot Understand

I complain alot in my blogs, but please do not assume that I have any interest in changing your behavior even slightly.  I am old.  The “just” world that I remember no longer exists today.  You did not get to see it, so it is not surprising that you don’t know how tragic your loss has been.  But your blindness goes much deeper than that.

Our past hunger for freedom and justice was a gift that sprang from a genetic level.  I call it the “Christ Gene”.  Sad to say that the Christ gene simply was not passed along to your generation.  If you think that Christ is a joke, you number among the overwhelming majority of young voters who gleefully elect tribal leaders and pot smokers.  In the absence of the Christ gene, His words are parables and you cannot understand them.

Aging pastors today are waiting for what they call the “Raptures”, when followers of Christ will be called away leaving the Earth in chaos.  Sorry, but the Raptures are all but over.  The “Christ Gene” is dying with my generation.  We seniors are a fading remnant.

Look around you.  You are living in chaos as I write, and it’s only just beginning.  It’s your World now.

Youth Why Hi

Back in the 50’s, when we were young, madness was rare and often blamed on alcohol addiction.

Today, madness is rampant and our frenzied youth are flocking to addictive drugs in a desperate effort to blunt the reality of the mangled world we have left them.

Madness or marijuana?  Both lead to chaos.

University Usury

Back in the 50’s, I earned enough working as a summer laborer to pay for my university education.  Today, no student doing summer work can earn enough to buy even the books necessary for school.  To make matters worse, most students cannot find summer jobs or employment after graduation.

Today, one of every ten unemployed graduates is offered an unpaid internship by corporations overstaffed with wealthy greedy earlier university graduates, all of whom have forgotten why they are so well off.  This cadre of chief executives was welcomed into the business community with open arms by those who had already achieved success, and most were paid more, not less, than they were worth upon graduation.

Our young people are often deep in debt when they graduate, only to discover that even bankruptcy is no longer possible where student loans are concerned.  University usury.

Youth: A Catch 22

We blame our offspring because they refused to follow in our footsteps.  In truth, they did try to follow us.  Sad to have to admit that in our nuclear madness our generation took the whole planet over a cliff.

Unpaid Internships

Canadian young people can no longer afford to attend Universities built and paid for by Canadian taxpayers.  Those few who do graduate most often find themselves unemployed and saddled with an insurmountable burden of debt.

Next they are told that it is now illegal for an individual to declare bankruptcy in order to shed the burden of debt incurred to obtain an education.

And FINALLY, our struggling high achievers are told by the grotesquely wealthy Canadian Corporations that employment is a privilege that doesn't include a PAY CHECK ... So GREEDY.

No room for our University graduates at the top.  No room at the bottom either. Any civilization that grinds up and consumes it’s youth is not long for this world.

University of Winnipeg Faculty Strike?

My solution?  Shut the University down.  I am a Canadian.  There is no room at Canadian universities for Canadian young people anymore.  We paid to build educational institutions that now corrupt the youth of foreign countries.  Let’s convert them to condos so they aren’t a total loss to the Canadian taxpayer.

Without A Future

What do Neil Young, Rob Ford, Justin Trudeau, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton have in common?  They are worshipped by the media and popular with the electorate.  They are big pot advocates.

Pot spawns great art and musical genius – but we cannot eat music and stoners don’t educate, operate, litigate, build roads or defend their fellow citizens.

Why do our young people drool over OJ Simpson, Elton John, Michael Jackson and Dennis Rodman?  Why elect dope peddlers who cannot see the future through their hallucinogenic haze?

Our forefathers risked life and limb to escape to the New World for the benefit of their offspring.  Their integrity built the civilization we once enjoyed.  Our grandchildren now exist in the wreckage of the miracle created by their ancestors.  Why did our youth choose to get high rather than repairing and building anew?

When faith died, many in my generation reverted to loving themselves at the expense of their progeny.  Nuclear power offered to turn the lights on.   My peers said yes - and to hell with the lethal mess that this would leave behind.

And so our lights burn bright today but rising background radiation is busy castrating every life form in existence on the planet, forever.  The lights are bright but we are fried and rapidly losing our ability to think.  Problems escalate and solutions evaporate.  Brick wall ahead.

Without a future …

Integrity Explained

In 2009, the Dean (now retired I hope) of the University of Toronto Rotman School of Business set about to explain the modern meaning of the word “integrity”.  This is what he said:

He described integrity as an analog.  You can have “a bit” of integrity, but you are a better person is you have “a lot” of integrity.

I believe that integrity was a precious gift.  You either had the gift or you didn’t.  The gift is all but dead today, so most cannot even describe what it once was.  Sadly, the Dean appears to fall into this unfortunate category.

Perhaps the Dean gets the credit for hiring a Muslim ethics professor to teach our sons and daughters in what one was a Judeo-Christian land.

I don’t like to think that I might be the one out of step, but I don’t agree with the Dean and I don’t think of myself as an infidel.

The few young people today who refuse to bend their truth cannot make it at Rotman.  Muslims and those with “a bit” of integrity are able to pass the ethics course.

“A bit” of integrity?

Outsource - Insource - Implode

We have outsourced our jobs (entry level to PhD) and we have insourced migrant workers to toil in our fields and at our doughnut shops.  As a result, our best and the brightest in the world (our young people) are left to scrawl graffiti on the relics of a civilization that once cared.

Seniors serve us at Burger Palaces where teens once held sway.  Highly educated Canadian University graduates are unemployed – their jobs outsourced for slave wages.

Canadian universities turn away our young people in favor of wealthy foreigners who pay more to attend the institutions we struggled to build for our sons and daughters.

Our youth pay the price as we wallow in the cheap luxuries of “free trade”.  If we cared we would mine iron ore, produce steel, stamp out fenders and harvest our own crops.

Canada is unique in that it has all of the resources it needs.  We could restrict our borders and rescue our young people.  If we cared about our children we would set about to reduce our imports of people, services and manufactured goods.  We would shut down the outsourcing of jobs until we achieved full employment for all Canadians.

This is urgent and obvious … and greed dictates that it could never happen.

Kiss your cherished way of life goodbye.
